Hello All!
The Weather has finally improved! With the high temp. dipping under a hundred the last few days K and I have been rejuvenated! We walked around in Cameron Park for like, an Hour this past weekend. It was Amazing!
We are truly happy to have had a break from the heavy heat of the Summer. And to Celebrate, I'm going to catch up on a couple "outdoor" items.
First off, the Car Cookies:
Before we lost our 100 degree days, Kristin wanted to illustrate the severity of our weather woes. Now we didn't go as crazy as some folks we saw on the internet (cooking, car-pot-roast during an 8 hour work day), but we were really able to bake chocolate chip cookies in our car on a very warm day.
Now we needed the full sun, and something like 3 hours for the first batch, but they turned out great! (if but a little gooey in the middle). But, I do have to admit to buying pre-made... pre-pasteurized cookies.
As much as a case of Salmonella would make this Summer even more memorable, We put our health first and played it safe.
Baylor Bears Football:
Even if we haven't had a weekend to visit the Great outdoors just yet, we did get out for our first Baylor Football game. And what a game to go to! Now I know that the TCU (Texas Christian University) Horned Frogs that Baylor beat at home 50-48 were not the Rose Bowl Champions of last season, but it was still great to get a W over such a strong, up-and-coming, program.
As far as the game itself, K got tickets that morning by responding to a text-message from her adviser. This may stand as the first voluntary and/or enjoyable text K has ever sent. Of course this meant sitting in the seats that Mrs. Adviser and Baby were not using. Luckily, Kristin's Boss had his oldest daughter with him, and she and K were able to entertain themselves well enough for most of the game :)
So we had a good time getting out a bit, and as much as I'd like to think we were done with this Summer heat, the forecast is clawing its way back up the thermometer...
